Meet The Team
Richard is a practicing and exhibiting artist with over thirty years of teaching experience. His practice includes digital art, painting, printmaking and mixed media. Richard is also a committee member of both the Brighton Art Society and the Victorian Artists Society. He believes that to grow as an artist he needs to be open to new ideas and skills and to continually challenge himself.
Maxine Wade has always had an interest in creativity and trained as an Art teacher at Melbourne University, going on to teach in a variety of secondary colleges for 27 years. After operating a picture framing business for 5 years, she now tutors adults in watercolour, drawing, and life drawing at several art societies in Melbourne. She was a long serving member of Australian Guild of Realist Artists (AGRA) for 18 years (2 of those serving as Professional Development Officer), a member of the Watercolour Society of Victoria for 18 years & The Victorian Artists’ Society.
Elly paints and draws for the sheer joy of it and is an experienced tutor working in all media. Trained in the traditional tonal method of oil painting, she holds a Diploma of Visual Art and has won numerous awards and has been a finalist in the Alice Bale Scholarship Award. She has a strong interest in portraiture, but paints a variety of subjects. Discover the magic of pastels and improve your drawing and observation skills.
Vicki McInnes is a Melbourne artist skilled in still life, portrait and landscape, working primarily in oils. Having studied Tonalist painting with Don James at Montsalvat, Vicki follows this classic approach. An experienced teacher, she enjoys developing her students’ skills and confidence, referring to classic disciplines with an eye to individual style. Her students are free work in oils, acrylics, watercolours, pastels and or drawing mediums. Vicki is a signatory member of The Victorian Artists’ Society, and exhibits regularly at selected art shows.
Ben is a professional, award winning artist and sought after tutor with a passion for teaching a solid grounding in drawing and oil painting. He is a Melbourne based artist who works in oil, watercolour and drawing and has been painting professionally for over fifteen years and has held several successful solo exhibitions.
Ben paints a wide range of subject matter; anything that inspires him at the time, but his love for the Australian landscape is something that stands out.
His work runs the full spectrum from representational through to abstraction, frequently combining both.
He is a multi-award winning artist including the Castlemaine James Farrell Self Portrait Prize and A.M.E. Bale Travelling Scholarship and Art Prize.
Elizabeth has degrees in Fine Art & Sociology, a Visual Arts Diploma and a Certificate in Art & Design. Elizabeth has exhibited in many exhibitions, taught at colleges and other art groups. Students may use other media.
Michelle has lectured in various colleges and universities, and has worked as Art coordinator in New York for theatre production, stage & costume design. She has work in collections in Europe, New York, and Australian. Michelle will help you to capture the human figure.
Vivi is an artist with expertise across all media and has a particular interest in landscapes. Students will be given the opportunity to learn mixed media techniques. Weather permitting, outdoor painting opportunities with guidance will be provided to further enhance their painting skills.
